Lead and support distribution electrical engineering projects from feasibility to construction and commissioning
Define scopes of work, perform engineering calculations, and develop detailed design drawings
Engineer distribution electrical projects through the entire project lifecycle from conceptual and feasibility, through detailed design, to construction and service
Support the preparation of technical specifications, tender documents, and technical reports
Provide construction support and overall project engineering coordination
Respond to information requests during construction and complete project documentation
Mentor and guide junior staff
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from a recognized university
Professional Engineering Designation or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the province of British Columbia
5+ years of overhead and underground distribution engineering experience serving utilities in North America
Knowledge of CSA/IEC/NESC Standards and major utility standards
Proficiency in electrical design, including selection and installation of conductors, insulators, switchgear, circuit breakers, and other distribution equipment
Experience with smart infrastructure equipment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to apply sound engineering judgment to resolve technical issues
Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for high-profile projects
Proven experience in leading a team of engineers and designers to deliver projects
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
