About the role

  • Lead and manage the procurement function across Wood Transmission & Distribution, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager
  • Lead a team of supply-chain specialists managing procurement for a portfolio of projects
  • Supplier management including identification, pre-qualification, evaluation and onboarding of new suppliers and revaluation of existing suppliers; maintain Approved Vendor List (AVL)
  • Provide negotiation, reporting and bid support; negotiate commercial terms optimising Wood security and cash positions
  • Support functional strategy and objectives including cost savings, working capital improvement and people development
  • Identify efficiencies, drive out waste and reduce costs within the supply chain
  • Support tendering with provision of applicable quotes and supplier input
  • Engage internal stakeholders (Quality, HSSE, Technical) in procurement processes
  • Ensure adherence to Wood governance controls and delegation of authorities
  • Expedite Purchase Orders to obtain required documentation and maintain delivery dates; notify updates to project teams
  • Arrange third party inspections at supplier premises where required
  • Coordinate third party shipping agencies to arrange customs clearance when necessary
  • Monitor supplier performance with site teams and record deviations from expected performance
  • Identify procurement team resource requirements and ensure operational and development needs are met
  • Promote safe working practices and demonstrate safety leadership

Requirements

  • Educated to ISCED Level 6 (bachelor’s degree or Equivalent) in business studies, law, engineering, quantity surveying, supply chain or similar discipline / CIPS qualified or industry equivalent
  • Extensive procurement experience demonstrating results and experience leading a team of supply-chain specialists
  • Previous experience operating under framework agreements and category agreements
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Knowledge of client contract requirements
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Principles and techniques
  • Experience negotiating complex agreements
  • Experience implementing project supply chain processes and procedures
  • Supplier Relationship Management experience
  • Experience in audit and assurance
  • Experience mobilising supply chain post contract award
  • Excellent communication skills, written, oral and presentation
  • Maintains a strong network both within and outside of supply chain department
  • Ability to positively maintain relationships with suppliers, clients and other disciplines
  • Strategic thinker contributing to management and improvement of the overall function
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Enthusiastic proactive attitude providing inspiring leadership
  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop teams and individuals in a pressurised environment
