About the role

  • Provide engineering to projects from conception to construction.
  • Assure compliance with Engineering Procedures and quality control standards
  • Interface with various engineering disciplines and suppliers.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Provide I&C input to P&ID’s
  • Prepare, review, and sign/stamp control deliverables such as Control Philosophy, Control Narrative, Cause and Effect diagram, and Control system architecture.
  • Development of Material take offs (MTO’s)
  • Support for field RFI’s and Field Change notices.
  • Development/QC of Instrument Loop diagrams as well as control cabinet design / wiring and cable schedule input to electrical.
  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL reviews
  • Selection and procurement of controls hardware (DCS/PLC/FGS)
  • Package Engineering such as preparing Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and award recommendations.
  • Completion of Vendor document reviews
  • Support in the development of Control Narratives and Cause and Effect diagrams.
  • Preparation and review of various I&C lists (I/O list, I/O assignments, Load list, etc)
  • Thorough understanding of communications and network systems.
  • Have frequent contact with vendors and internal staff

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Science, Engineering from an accredited University or College.
  • Minimum of 4 + yrs. Industry experience
  • Good understanding and familiarity of ISA and CSA codes and directives.
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
  • Experience in the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI / Intools) is an asset.
  • Registration through APEGA as a P.ENG/P.L. (ENG) is an asset.
  • Experience in the Alberta oil and gas sector is preferred
