External Sales Representative

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The External Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth to meet branch and company targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while developing new client opportunities by offering effective, professional solutions.
- Provide quotes, technical assistance, documentation, and other forms of support or materials to customers.
- Own the development of new sales by identifying market opportunities and prospective customer needs, tailoring products and services, and delivering solutions to those customers.
- Participate in setting branch sales targets and take responsibility for achieving sales results (revenue, gross margin, account objectives and monthly sales quotas).
- Advise branches on competitive pricing to achieve target margins while allowing flexibility to secure high-volume accounts or win new customers.
- Proactively communicate with branch management on all aspects of customer partnerships, ensuring consistent fulfillment of customer and branch expectations in accordance with contract terms, and promptly resolving any issues.
- Work collaboratively with branch staff while providing feedback and recommendations on new products, services and market conditions to customers and branch management.
- Participate in trade shows, training sessions and product meetings as required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role with a proven track record in profitable selling or cold calling, preferably in wholesale distribution of plumbing and HVAC/R products
- Ability to meet and exceed quota and sales targets
- Excellent time management and entrepreneurial mindset
- Strong capability to work independently to effectively manage assigned territory and accounts
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Demonstrated initiative and capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Highly organized with strong prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
