About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer and implement Environmental Protection programs in assigned areas
- Serve as the Area/Market Area Environmental Protection contact
- Provide technical guidance on environmental protection topics and regulatory environments
- Monitor and investigate compliance status
- Provide training and specific recommendations to site, district, Market Area management, and operations personnel
- Lead Environmental Protection team professionals in some Groups and/or Areas when required
- Communicate and implement Corporate Environmental Protection program policies and strategies
- Handle incident notifications, environmental issues, permit applications, and expansion projects across water, air, and waste regulatory frameworks
- Identify local, state, and federal regulatory impacts and interact with regulatory authorities
- Investigate and assess regulatory findings, prepare related documents, and support compliance enforcement
- Coordinate action-plan resolution and regulatory agency negotiations
- Plan, organize, and secure environmental permits and regulatory approvals
- Develop, coordinate, record, and oversee field testing, investigations, assessments, and guidance
- Manage activities involving petroleum products, leachate, landfill gas, sanitary and industrial wastewaters, stormwater, and groundwater related to waste collection, transportation, and disposal
- Provide technical and project direction to consultants and site/Market Area staff
- Ensure compliance with Special Waste Program requirements
- Prepare and deliver Environmental Protection training and education
- Maintain Environmental Protection data-tracking databases (Cycle) and provide company reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree
- In lieu of degree: High School Diploma/GED with 7 years of related work experience
- 7 years of environmental protection related experience
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment as it applies to environmental protection and compliance
- Basic understanding and working knowledge of how to read regulations
- Environmental Certifications, such as Stormwater Operator (preferred)
- Ability to work inside and outside in inclement weather, heat and humidity
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if required for business air travel or federal property access
