About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver technical expertise in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of new software and significant enhancements to existing software
Conduct complex business process analysis and needs assessments
Lead and participate in design sessions with Architects to align IT solutions with business initiatives
Undertake complex software design, testing, and application development projects involving multiple disciplines
Contribute strategic vision and integrate ideas regarding applications and software development
Present and communicate technical processes to technical and nontechnical audiences, including senior leadership, VPs, and C-level executives
Develop enterprise-level IT solutions by analyzing, coding, testing, implementing, and modifying software applications
Lead design and coding sessions and implement solutions
Articulate designs and resolve technical/design conflicts
Coordinate with business analysts and users to determine requirements
Analyze system requirements, business processes, and information systems

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field
10 years of experience as a Principal Engineer, Software; Software Engineer; Software Developer; or related position
10 years of technical experience in project/change management, systems development, implementation, upgrades, analyses, QA testing, business modeling, system design, enterprise coding standards, highly complex coding, code reviews, iterative software methodologies, and Route Logistics business concepts
5 years of technical experience in one or more of: AWS cloud services; Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL databases; Cassandra or DynamoDB; Python and Java; service-oriented, microservices, and event-driven design patterns; complex cloud-based software projects; web application development; security; open-source technologies; Agile development methodologies
Must work from the Houston office four days per week
