About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage post-closure activities for multiple landfill sites
  • Oversee environmental monitoring programs, landfill gas and liquids collection systems, surface maintenance, storm water management, and related environmental projects
  • Minimize operational costs while maximizing productivity and maintaining safety and environmental compliance
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, governmental entities, property owners, and other stakeholders
  • Monitor ongoing permitting issues
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, laboratories, and technical service providers to complete compliance obligations and project deliverables
  • Develop and manage site and project budgets, consultant contracts, and environmental compliance initiatives
  • Ensure timely completion of required reviews, reports, and corporate programs
  • Conduct site inspections and maintenance activities
  • Attend and contribute to periodic safety meetings
  • Provide training and presentations
  • Prepare and submit required reports

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years relevant work experience
  • 7 years relevant work experience in addition to the education requirement
  • Ability to travel 20%, including occasional overnights
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field
  • Preferred: Experience in landfill operations, solid waste management, environmental consulting, or environmental regulatory compliance
  • Preferred: Knowledge of landfill permitting, post-closure care, groundwater monitoring, landfill gas systems, and applicable environmental requirements
  • Ability to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if required for air travel or access to federal property
  • Ability to handle objects weighing less than 30 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work around occupational risks including cuts, burns, and chemical exposure
  • Ability to work in environments involving dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements
