About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with enhancing, implementing, and supporting community relations and education efforts
- Assist in developing and implementing the community relations strategy
- Coordinate community programs that enhance the company's standing
- Maintain relationships with assigned charitable programs and communities
- Coordinate community-contact programs and disseminate information
- Partner with educational institutions on outreach campaigns, projects, presentations, seminars, and events
- Support WM community outreach and education programming through facility tours, presentations, events, workshops, and projects
- Support volunteerism, giving, and employee community involvement programs
- Update volunteer assistance and community relations tools and event collateral
- Track employee volunteer projects and company funding for community events
- Assist with planning and administering large company events
Requirements
What you’ll need- Accredited bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field, or an alternative of an accredited high school diploma/GED plus four years of related experience
- Three years of previous experience in community relations in addition to education requirements
- Ability to coordinate community programs and outreach campaigns
- Experience partnering with educational institutions and community organizations
- Ability to develop presentations, seminars, workshops, and special events
- Ability to track community projects, employee volunteers, and company funding
- Ability to produce clear, effective, compliant communications and branded collateral
- REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative required or willingness to obtain one if business air travel or federal property access is needed
