About the role
- Manage existing business relationships by developing and implementing retention strategies.
- Utilize negotiation efforts to preserve business and secure contract agreements from previously non-contracted customers.
- Handle all retention requests and provide ongoing education of contract details to existing customers.
- Obtain customer contract commitments during face-to-face interactions and resolve escalations for customer service within the book of business.
- Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction; communicate with Retention Manager to resolve unique customer issues.
- Increase revenue and profitability by executing retention calls to improve customer service and profitability.
- Match Waste Management services with customer needs; communicate pricing and service strategies and refer internal opportunities as appropriate.
- Propose customer solutions compliant with local, state and federal regulations; update and secure customer service agreements.
- Prepare complex proposals and make recommendations on equipment optimization and leasing options by acquiring in-depth industry and company knowledge.
- Effectively use WM sales productivity software tools and reporting systems.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree (accredited) in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.
- Two (2) years of relationship management experience in environmental, waste or related service industry (in addition to education requirement).
- Ability to generate reports, general business correspondence, present information and respond to questions for managers, clients and the public.
- Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint with substantial experience with web based interactive systems.
- Demonstrate exceptional presentation skills.
- Ability to effectively use Waste Management sales productivity software tools (Prospect and Customer Database, Proposal Program, Pricing Tools, etc.).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation carrying the required amount of insurance as outlined by the company.
- Ability to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding) and to handle objects less than 30 pounds; travel to field locations.
