About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage waste and recycling services for existing construction accounts
  • Grow temporary revenue by meeting or exceeding monthly sales goals
  • Handle customer service requests and service issues
  • Educate customers and prospects on proper recycling processes and WM's online tools
  • Focus at least 70% of activities on new business
  • Grow existing customer relationships and receive referrals
  • Cold call on new and planned construction projects
  • Manage business-to-business sales relationships
  • Develop detailed proposals encompassing multiple services
  • Research waste and environmental services business factors
  • Attend conferences and symposiums for networking and industry/market knowledge
  • Manage assignments and build trusting relationships
  • Prospect and close business to achieve budgeted sales goals
  • Develop and implement selling and marketing strategies for revenue growth
  • Maintain key prospect information in the prospect database
  • Match WM services to customer needs using knowledge of customers, pricing, and competition
  • Communicate pricing and service strategies and refer internal WM opportunities as appropriate
  • Use WM sales productivity software, including prospect/customer database, proposal program, and pricing tools
  • Propose solutions compliant with local, state, and federal regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 1 year of relevant work experience in direct business-to-business sales and phone-based business-to-business prospecting resulting in successfully obtaining customer appointments, in addition to the education requirement
  • 20 hours of training with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
  • WM CRA certification
  • Involvement in one or more of USGBC, AIA, AGC, BOMA, or NAHB
  • Candidates must be local to the Charlotte area
  • Prior outside/field sales experience in a construction setting preferred
  • Ability to work outside/in field sales visiting local construction sites
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if required for air travel or federal property access
