About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide and develop a high-performing engineering team
- Support engineers’ career growth through regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and development plans
- Lead recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and psychologically safe team culture
- Own team delivery outcomes, velocity, and operational excellence
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability
- Set technical standards and guide architectural decisions
- Ensure code quality through reviews and technical debt management
- Lead production incident response and post-mortem processes
- Partner with Product, Design, Security, and other stakeholders on roadmaps and dependencies
- Manage team capacity, risks, progress, and blockers
- Contribute to departmental technical strategy and drive innovation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven leadership skills with ability to inspire, coach, and mentor engineers
- Strong technical background in software engineering principles and modern methodologies, including Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High emotional intelligence and ability to build trust
- Strategic thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate business priorities into technical execution
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, continuous learning, and improvement
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including delivery of complex systems
- 2+ years of direct people management experience, including performance and career development
- Demonstrable experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and driving continuous improvement
- Experience with project budgeting, resource planning, and reporting
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Ability to advise on technical strategy and align it with business objectives
- Master’s degree in CS, Engineering, or MBA
- Certifications in Agile/Scrum, Leadership, or Cloud Architecture
- Experience in governance, compliance, or risk management
- Track record of mentoring engineers and fostering inclusive team culture
- Exposure to scaling teams, distributed systems, and enterprise-level architecture
