About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Shape and run external communications that show how Workday is transforming industries in the AI era and how customers are doing meaningful, innovative work with our products.
  • Build strong relationships with the media.
  • Develop strategies and supporting programs that drive positive coverage highlighting Workday’s product innovation and customer impact stories.
  • Partner with product marketing, industry marketing, and customer advocacy to develop narratives and messaging that can be applied across internal and external channels.
  • Research into Workday’s product roadmap and working with key stakeholders to source industry-specific product news – both near and long term – that we want to drive awareness around.
  • Identifying stories and examples of how Workday is responding to customers’ needs with new solutions that help them adapt to the changing world of work.
  • Leading media programs around Workday-owned and industry and customer events.
  • Work closely with customer PR teams to tell clear, engaging stories about how customers use Workday and the impact it has on their business.
  • Represent the communications/PR team in cross-functional teams to ensure alignment around business objectives and to advance broader company initiatives.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8-10+ years of public relations experience, preferably in enterprise software technology.
  • Background in both in-house and agency is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and scaling strategic PR programs aimed at targeted vertical industries.
  • Strong experience working with business, trade, IT, and industry media outlets and reporters.
  • Established relationships with industry trade, tech, and business media.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise.
  • Strong command of AI tools and demonstrated experience in deploying them to strengthen storytelling.
  • Ability to quickly understand technology and translate into public relations strategies, messaging, and compelling narratives.
  • Experience creating content that reaches audiences across paid, earned, and owned channels.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven track record in navigating and building strong relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, technical, and analytical skills.
  • Both agency and in-house experience are preferred.
  • Periodic travel is required.
