About the role

  • Shaping the technical direction of the cloud platform and developing architecture principles, platform standards, and reusable building blocks
  • Close collaboration with Tech Leads, Staff Engineers, and Cloud Platform Engineers on scalable cloud architectures based on AWS (e.g., managed Kubernetes, serverless)
  • Supporting teams in building infrastructure with Pulumi (TypeScript) or Terraform
  • Building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub or GitLab
  • Operational topics such as monitoring with Elastic Cloud, Prometheus, and Grafana
  • Supporting development teams in the effective use of the platform
  • Contributing to the further development of engineering standards and actively sharing knowledge across the company

Requirements

  • Many years of experience (typically around a decade) in the development and operation of production software and cloud systems
  • Responsibility for architectural decisions in technical leadership roles
  • Experience in evolving technical standards or platforms across projects
  • DevOps mindset and experience working in distributed teams
  • Clear, audience-appropriate communication with customers, Tech Leads, and engineering teams
  • Structured and analytical problem-solving
  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001)
  • Willingness to take on on-call responsibilities for platform operations
  • Experience with technologies such as AWS, Kubernetes, serverless, Pulumi or Terraform, GitHub or GitLab, Elastic Cloud, Prometheus or Grafana
  • Good German language skills (project communication predominantly in German)
