About the role
- Work in cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to shape the security and integrity of user account systems
- Minimize risk and potential abuse by ensuring robust authentication, authorization, and access controls across the environment
- Deliver secure-by-default infrastructure, scalable permissioning systems, and reliable storage for sensitive user data
- Empower other teams to move fast without compromising user trust
- Contribute designs, code, and ideas to solve complex technical challenges and help define future engineering initiatives
- Sample projects include Authentication, Authorization, Permissions, Access control systems, and building secure storage for PII user data
- Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, or New York hubs
Requirements
- 5+ years of infrastructure engineering experience building scalable systems that can handle millions of users
- Experience with large distributed systems handling substantial traffic
- Previous experience at a hyper-growth startup; self-starter who can hit the ground running with little direction
- Self-driven with result-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Exceptional coding skills and the ability to ship new products quickly; primarily use Python, Elixir, JavaScript (previous knowledge not required)
- Knowledge in cryptography, networking, authentication, and authorization
- Experience implementing security measures such as encryption, access controls, data minimization, and regular audits to safeguard PII
- Nice to have: experience in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Terraform
- Nice to have: startup experience at high-growth companies
