About the role
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and maintaining information security policies, standards, and procedures
- Support risk assessment activities, including vendor/supply chain security risk reviews
- Help track and document compliance with regulatory and industry frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, NIST CSF, ISO 27001)
- Participate in internal security awareness and training campaigns
- Assist with evidence collection for audits, assessments, and customer security questionnaires
- Contribute to the monitoring and reporting of security metrics and compliance dashboards
- Research emerging cybersecurity regulations, best practices, and technologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, Legal, Procurement, etc.) to support security initiatives
- Engage with various stakeholders across the business and senior leadership teams
- Train and develop skills in IT operations, applications, systems and business-related processes and procedures
- Become familiar with WEX systems and resources
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related field
- Will have completed at least your Sophomore year of school at the start of the internship
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to multi-task across multiple technologies
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of personnel to explain complex security topics to both technical and non-technical settings
- Strong project management skills, including planning and execution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting information
- Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment
