About the role
- Support dam reconstruction and upgrades across multiple hydroelectric sites in Western Wisconsin.
- Provide daily/weekly structural engineering guidance on‑site and in the office.
- Perform constructability reviews of drawings at major milestones.
- Oversee quality observations, troubleshoot field issues, and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
- Help with scheduling, logistics planning, estimate reviews, and early-stage project planning.
- Conduct weekly or bi‑weekly site visits (including occasional overnight stays).
- Communicate with field teams, addressing safety, quality, and schedule risks in real time.
- Prepare daily and weekly reporting, including on-site activity summaries and engineering support notes.
- Support coordination with FERC regulatory requirements.
- Review and contribute to inspection/test plans, non‑conformance items, and field engineering corrections.
Requirements
- A structural engineer with 5–7 years of experience in construction, utility, civil infrastructure, or hydro-related projects.
- Comfortable juggling both office engineering and site‑based field support.
- Collaborate across engineering, construction, PM, and regulatory partners.
- Bachelor's degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program (Structural/Civil preferred).
- Background in structural engineering including reinforced concrete and steel.
- Review native CAD files (MicroStation experience ideal).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regular travel.
