About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, design, and execute aspects of energy storage projects
- Explore subject areas and define project scope
- Provide engineering oversight and consulting across cross-functional teams
- Support the design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects
- Identify inconsistencies in engineering drawings and take corrective action
- Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions
- Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts
- Support projects from inception to completion with project managers
- Influence project teams on engineering tasks
- Track project progress and technical issues
- Manage project milestones and identify risks
- Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment
- Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements
- Travel 25% of the time for project-specific responsibilities
- Report to the onsite manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years experience in Solar/PV Engineering and/or Construction
- Expertise in one or more of: Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, Generation tie design
- Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters
- Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards: UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable IFC/IBC sections
- Familiarity with IEC 61215, 61646, and 61730
- Ability to handle specialized technical tasks
- Must meet applicable United States and comparable export control requirements
