About the role

  • Lead strategy, transformation, and hardening of Western Union’s payments platforms to support all channels and lines of business.
  • Own one or more platform capabilities across full lifecycle: inception, discovery, solutioning, development, launch.
  • Drive platform resilience by incorporating lessons from incidents and escalations; improve systems for scale, reliability, and performance.
  • Manage current platform state while defining and executing roadmaps toward a future-ready ecosystem.
  • Shape strategic initiatives as a senior leader within the global Payments Product organization.
  • Deliver innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness informed by industry trends, user needs, and business objectives.
  • Help deliver seamless, compliant, and cost-effective payment experiences for users across the region.
  • Build a best-in-class remittance payments platform, enabling global money movement at scale and reinforcing Western Union’s leadership in the market.
  • Role Responsibilities: Lead a team of product managers tasked with inception, discovery, solutioning, development, testing, roll-out, and maintenance of a product or platform.
  • Prioritize work for more junior members of the product team, directs the team’s efforts around run, grow, and transform-type programs and initiatives.
  • Shapes and evolves the way of working for the product team by establishing high-performing stakeholder relationships with adjacent functions, and by refining agile and end-to-end PDLC practices.
  • Creates the conditions under which product teams can thrive by shaping our people/talent, process/procedure, product, and technology strategy.
  • Ideates and pilots innovative ways of fulfilling our product mission.
  • Owns the product/platform roadmap and continuously makes priority decisions based on business cases, market, user, and customer impacts.
  • Acts as steward to the investment made into our platforms by calling out risks and managing the total cost of ownership for any given capability.
  • Establishes market positioning objectives for complex products and platforms.
  • Continuously educates the product team, as well as internal and external stakeholders on the vision, mission, current and desired future state of our products and platforms.
  • Prepares executive reporting around KPIs and OKRs.
  • Is responsible for the performance of our product teams, incorporates short and longer-term professional development goals on the team and team member level.
  • Sets an example of living Western Union’s values around engagement and inclusion.
  • Acts as a change agent and driver of innovation.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience of product management experience in Financial Services, preferably payments and 5+ years of experience managing teams.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in business or engineering.
  • Product Management Skills: demonstrated product management skills including strategic and tactical product management, working knowledge of agile methodologies, change management, end-to-end PDLC.
  • Project Management Skills: demonstrated project management skills including the ability to create a project plan, planning and coordinating, organization, adaptability, and execution.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Proven problem-solving skills, a robust technological background, and an understanding of business processes.
