About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assists in supervision of a group of children.
- Assists in implementation of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
- Supports academic learning being done remotely by students (in pandemic time if applicable).
- Adheres to YMCA and state (Early Education & Care, EEC) standards including safety and cleanliness.
- Attends staff meetings and training.
- Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion.
- Follows YMCA and EEC policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Ability to assist in providing direct care to school-age children while reinforcing health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to assist in supporting children with their distance learning assignments being done remotely at the YMCA.
- Ability to assist in guiding structured Clubs and enrichment activities.
- Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization.
- Child CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and training within 30 days of hire date.
- EEC training/registration prior to hire date.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
