About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a state licensed out-of-school time program operating full-day programs.
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
- Supports academic learning being done remotely by students (in pandemic time if applicable).
- Adheres to YMCA and state (Early Education & Care, EEC) standards including safety and cleanliness.
- Attending staff meetings and training.
- Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion.
- Continue to think about strategies to support diversity goals of the organization.
- Follows YMCA and EEC policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
- Models' relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Works at special events (i.e., Snow Day Program, Holiday Programs) and vacation week programs, if needed.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous experience working with children.
- Ability to provide direct care to school-age children while reinforcing health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to support children with their distance learning assignments being done remotely at the YMCA.
- Ability to guide structured Clubs and enrichment activities.
- Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization.
- Learning about our initiatives and the continuous work and being able to vocalize with members if needed.
- Child CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and training within 30 days of hire date.
- EEC training/registration prior to hire date.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
