About the role

  • Manage and ensure the accuracy of all payroll tax and payroll accounting activities
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of payroll taxes at the federal, state, local, Canadian, and Mexican levels
  • Reconcile payroll tax withholdings and deposits to confirm accurate reporting and remittance
  • Lead Quarter-End and Year-End activities for U.S. and Canadian payroll operations
  • Balance and maintain all payroll-related GL accounts within UKG Pro after each payroll
  • Ensure payroll journals accurately reflect wage, tax, and benefit liabilities
  • Prepare and validate payroll accounting reports to ensure alignment with financial statements
  • Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve complex payroll tax discrepancies
  • Analyze payroll and tax data to identify trends, discrepancies, and compliance risks

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience required
  • 5 - 7 years of payroll tax and payroll accounting experience required including multi-state and Canadian payroll
  • Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Business Intelligence, data validation, and analysis)
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax and accounting principles and general ledger reconciliation
  • Experience leading quarter-end and year-end tax close activities
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
