About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function under the direction of physicians, clinical leads, nurse supervisors, and/or office manager
- Prepare patients for exams and assist physicians with treatments
- Coordinate tests and follow-up care
- Record treatments in medical records
- Explain patient instructions to patients and families
- Register patients and perform front-office registration operations
- Prepare equipment and rooms and perform patient vitals
- Rotate among laboratory, x-ray, and front-office service areas
- Perform radiographic and diagnostic imaging procedures
- Prepare and position patients for imaging while following radiation-protection techniques
- Obtain ordered imaging views and process images for identification and quality control
- Maintain imaging logs, reports, and documentation
- Start and maintain laboratory equipment and daily logs
- Perform ordered laboratory tests, draw blood, and conduct point-of-care testing
- Order and stock supplies and perform quality-control and cleaning procedures
- Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care across all age groups
- Coordinate and document safe, quality patient care
- Complete required competency assessments and education
- May precept onboarding Medical Assistants and students
- Promote evidence-based practice and participate in data collection and value analysis
- Plan patient care across the care continuum and support efficient resource use
- Comply with Wellstar policies, standards of work, code of conduct, and clinical requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma / GED
- Certificate in Medical Assisting
- BLS, ARC-BLS, or BLS-I certification required upon hire
- CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or NRCMA certification required upon hire
- Current certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or MedCA required upon hire
- Phlebotomy certification required within 60 days of hire
- OSHA training for radiology equipment operators required within 60 days of hire
- Work experience in a practice setting preferred
- Experience in the practice specialty required
- Radiology experience preferred; training provided within the first 60 days
- Organized and attentive to detail
- Able to work quickly and efficiently to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction
- Able to communicate and understand verbal and written English
- Basic computer skills and ability to use technology to support clinical care
- Ability to adhere to the Wellstar Credo and Code of Conduct
