About the role

  • Project Manager leads information systems design, development, and implementation projects for the WellStar Health System.
  • Creates system specific project plans, task sequencing, goals, deadlines, testing and implementation to the extent to which tasks can be performed concurrently.
  • Develops and maintains associated project plan templates and supporting documentation.
  • Monitors resource utilization and costs.
  • Coordinates all implementation activities of assigned projects with IS application teams.
  • Works closely with the IT Application Manager that owns the application affected by the project to ensure project success.
  • Define scope, goals and deliverables and manage changes in project scope throughout the duration of the project.
  • Develop project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Coordinates; evaluates performance; sets goals of project team.
  • Demonstrates negotiating skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and integrate project activities across multiple functional lines.
  • Identifies and manages risk factors associated with project management.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Track progress and review project tasks to assign accountability to make certain deadlines are met appropriately.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Performs post project reviews and closes project.
  • Addresses/documents post-project issues, concerns and improvement areas.
  • Arrange training as needed.
  • Perform as liaison with other IS teams, operational areas, fuctional teams and vendors.
  • Provide advisory and consultative skills to project needs and inititaives.
  • Schedule and host regular status meetings with all stakeholders, keeping the stakeholders needs and requirements continuously in view.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
  • Build, develop and grow all business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Actively support IS policies, procedures and initiatives.
  • Exhibit tact, professionalism, good personal grooming and create a favorable impression to the public and all health system staff through professional dress and good customer service skills.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Requirements

  • Required Minimum Education: Bachelors Business Information Systems or Bachelors Computer Science or Bachelors Other
  • Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • Additional License(s) and Certification(s):
  • Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 5 years progressive experience in information systems project management.
  • Required or Experience in a health care system environment.
  • The role must be knowledgeable about project management techniques and tools.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings to move projects forward and to resolve issues or problems is important.
  • Superior critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Preferred Minimum 10 years equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of degree; Bachelors degree obtained within 5 years of hire
  • Required Minimum Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and create relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experienced in setting and achieving timelines and milestones.
  • Intermediate or better competence in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, team-building and communication skills.
  • Ability to build consensus and foster change in organizational setting.
  • Sense of responsibility to self, team and project.
