About the role

  • Functions under the direction of the Manager Customer Service; assist with coverage for outbound and inbound calls, cash collection and final disposition of patient balances; optimize cash flow while delivering excellent customer service
  • Review and provide leadership with daily/weekly/monthly productivity reporting; assist with staff training; update policies, procedures, and job aids
  • Primarily responsible for guidance/training/escalation for staff in account management, customer service, cash collection and final resolution
  • Handle escalated calls as a first line of response; assist supervisor/manager as needed
  • Support special projects including reporting and quality assurance; participate in HIPAA-related educational updates
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of protected health information; comply with HIPAA regulations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; required education
  • Certified Patient Account Rep-Preferred; additional licenses/certifications required
  • 2+ years experience in healthcare account management with customer service experience
  • 2+ years or more in hospital, physician's office or related healthcare office environment
  • Training in healthcare collections and customer service; knowledge of HIPAA compliance
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and PC applications
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-stress environment
  • Excellent internal/external customer service and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to service standards and performance improvement
