About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the identification, sourcing, and execution of municipal natural gas and power prepayment transactions, with Wells Fargo acting as prepaid supplier, swap counterparty, municipal underwriter, and/or funding recipient.
  • Design, model, and execute complex structured energy financing transactions, including Muni Prepays, coordinating closely with legal, credit, liquidity, market risk, tax, and trading stakeholders.
  • Maintain and expand a senior-level network of relationships with prepaid suppliers, qualifying use participants (including utilities and downstream energy consumers), municipal aggregators, joint action agencies, load serving entities (LSEs), and community choice aggregators to drive sustainable deal flow.
  • Partner with trading desks to source physical volumes and implement hedging strategies to manage physical delivery obligations and commodity price exposure inherent in long-dated structured energy transactions.
  • Drive transactions from structuring through execution, ensuring compliance with internal risk governance, regulatory requirements, and business process expectations.
  • Consult and collaborate with peers, senior leaders, and cross-functional partners across Markets and Banking to resolve complex issues and deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Provide thought leadership on industry trends, regulatory developments, and structural innovations impacting the municipal energy and tax-exempt financing landscape.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of Securities Sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of experience in capital markets, energy origination, commodities, or municipal finance at a top-tier financial institution or merchant energy firm.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on track record of originating and executing municipal natural gas and/or power prepayment transactions.
  • Deep understanding of physical energy markets, structured energy finance, and tax-exempt municipal financing.
  • Proven experience working across trading, banking, legal, tax, and risk functions.
  • Strong financial modeling experience for non-recourse and structured energy transactions.
  • Established credibility with senior decision-makers across municipal and public power clients.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to attend client meetings and industry conferences.
