About the role

  • Manage a team of lawyers and professionals supporting asset-based lending and trade finance businesses
  • Serve as part of the Commercial Banking Division management team supporting products, businesses, and projects
  • Serve as an experienced legal advisor to business management
  • Handle matters with significant impact on operations, strategies, or profitability
  • Manage and develop teams with moderate complexity and risk
  • Participate in and lead the most complex legal projects
  • Apply specialty legal expertise proactively to manage complex legal and regulatory issues
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and risk control development
  • Determine strategy and actions to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables
  • Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functions within scope of responsibility
  • Provide guidance to executive officers on legal, regulatory, compliance, or reputational risk issues
  • Collaborate with and influence professionals and more experienced managers across the organization
  • Oversee and take an active role in education and training of a team of attorneys
  • Engage and influence stakeholders, internal partners, and peers affected by the function's outcomes
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments align with strategic objectives
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy

Requirements

  • 6+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial banking, specifically asset based and secured lending, and letter of credit expertise at a large bank or financial services company (Desired)
  • Proven client relationship and interpersonal skills at the senior executive level (Desired)
  • Excellent written and oral communication, influence and negotiation skills (Desired)
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing or crisis environments, work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, understand complex business activities and operations, prioritize among competing demands, and develop and maintain relationships of trust with business leaders (Desired)
