About the role

  • Own the core payments platform backlog, focusing on backend systems—authorization, capture, refund, batch settlement, disbursement, and ledger updates.
  • Translate PayFac business requirements into technical Epics that define transaction logic, fund flow, and clearing/settlement behavior.
  • Partner with Engineering and Architecture to design scalable APIs and microservices supporting merchant onboarding, payment processing, merchant and internal team reporting and monitoring, and sub-merchant settlements.
  • Manage integrations with processors, acquiring banks, and card networks (e.g., Worldpay, Fiserv, TSYS, Elavon) including certification and compliance tracking.
  • Support merchant lifecycle operations: KYC/KYB onboarding, underwriting, tokenization, dispute management, and funding.
  • Lead coordination across ACH, card-present, and card-not-present transaction flows.
  • Oversee gateway and acquiring configurations, surcharging and convenience fee logic, and network tokenization.
  • Collaborate with Finance on reconciliation, settlement balancing, and chargeback automation.
  • Ensure all services maintain PCI DSS and network compliance while supporting operational scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • 3–5+ years as a Product Owner, Technical Analyst, or Product Manager in card processing, PayFac, or payment gateway environments.
  • In-depth understanding of fund flows, merchant acquiring, and payment lifecycle events (auth, capture, refund, clearing, and settlement).
  • Familiar with financial messaging standards such as ISO8583, ISO20022, NACHA, and REST-based payment APIs.
  • Experience managing processor integrations, sub-merchant funding models, and chargeback/dispute processes.
  • Knowledge of tokenization, 3DS, EMV, and PCI DSS standards.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, Splunk, SQL, and API documentation platforms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—able to bridge business logic with technical execution.
  • Prior work with registered PayFacs or acquiring platforms (Worldpay, Adyen, Stripe, Marqeta, etc.).
  • Exposure to ledgering, funding orchestration, or bank settlement reconciliation.
  • Understanding of merchant risk management and underwriting workflows.
  • Experience with SDK development, token vaults, or network certifications.
Benefits
  • Hybrid work model – 3 days onsite / 2 remote
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • Unlimited PTO (with a culture that encourages use)
  • 401(k) match up to 4%
