About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Travel from site to site to service and repair refrigeration, HVAC, and miscellaneous equipment in retail supermarkets
- Respond to service requests for supermarket refrigeration systems, HVAC, cardboard balers, checkout counters, lighting, humidifiers, and other equipment
- Complete service reports, time sheets, expense reports, purchase records, and other documentation
- Maintain contact with Sunbury dispatch to receive new service calls
- Perform periodic preventive maintenance inspections and procedures
- Maintain the workplace and service van in a neat, clean, and safe condition
- Communicate with the Service Supervisor regarding further action when appropriate
- Interview store personnel to determine service needs and instruct them in safe, effective equipment operation
- Train new Service Technicians
- Respond to emergency breakdown calls whenever possible
- Direct trainee activities when applicable
- Perform other duties as directed by supervision
Requirements
What you’ll need- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is unavailable
- Must maintain an onsite presence and travel throughout the assigned Pennsylvania territory
- Post-secondary technical training in a job-related discipline OR five years of experience maintaining commercial refrigeration systems
- EPA certified (Type I and II) in proper refrigeration practices
- Knowledge of MSDS and OSHA
- Computer literate
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems and service techniques, including troubleshooting, electrical, and brazing skills
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments common to the trade
- Proper food safety techniques for the supermarket industry
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; must be insurable
- Ability to work on roofs, scaffolds, and ladders at heights of approximately 30 feet
- Good verbal, writing, and reading skills, including interpreting manufacturers’ instructions
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands and adjust priorities as conditions dictate
- Good judgment, reliability, initiative, tact, integrity, dependability, and quick thinking
- Sensory ability to perform responsibilities
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work in extreme weather and conditions of heat, cold, noise, and dust
- Ability to work under time pressure, without direct supervision, and outside normal working hours for occasional emergencies
- Ability to perform substantial standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and reaching
- Ability to work in confined spaces and around refrigerant leaks, solvents, oils, and brazing
