About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as primary commercial counsel for assigned business units
  • Ensure compliance of assigned business units with WEG policies relating to risk management, contracting, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with internal customers while maintaining an overriding commitment to conformity with Company policies, contracting guidelines, and established processes
  • Forward disputes, investigations, and other non-commercial matters to the General Counsel promptly
  • Advise business unit leaders on a broad range of commercial and compliance matters and report timely on such matters
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, nondisclosure agreements, service agreements, and other contracts (sell-side and buy-side)
  • Highly responsive to legal requests, with excellent communication about timelines, deliverables, and circumstances of each transaction or matter
  • Contribute upon request in the development of Legal Team policies and procedures, templates, and training, and proactively identify areas for improvement and/or risk mitigation
  • Build and maintain an understanding of the manufacturing industry and the laws that affect the Company, with a focus on compliance and commercial law
  • Escalate concerns to the General Counsel as appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • J.D., with active license in at least one U.S. state
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in reputable law firms and/or in-house legal departments
  • Contract review, drafting, & negotiation (with emphasis on contract law)
  • Energy and Public Utilities experience a plus
