About the role
- Maintenance of distribution system models and calculation of fault currents necessary to evaluate protection schemes.
- Specification and setting of protective devices for use on the distribution system including substation: fuses, reclosers, overcurrent and reclosing relays; feeder: reclosers, VFIs, fuses and pad-mount switch-fuse units.
- Review of existing feeder and system changes/additions to ensure proper performance under fault conditions and maintenance of acceptable levels of system reliability.
- Analysis of distribution outages and events to aid in system restoration as well as general operations support for planned and emergency reconfiguration issues.
- Participation in the design and application of system restoration schemes including substation auto-changeover and distributed automation.
- Customer substation interface protection device settings approvals.
Requirements
- A 2-year associate degree in electrical engineering/electronics technology, OR
- A minimum of 60 credits of college coursework from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 35 credits in electrical engineering/electronics.
- A valid driver's license and meet the company's requirements for driving.
- This position may require unescorted access to certain critical cyber assets which would require applicants to satisfy all Company and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard 004 security requirements, which includes a background investigation.
- TECT Technician Selection System (TECH)-Technician level: Ability to use numerical information presented in drawings, prints, and graphs to solve arithmetic problems, ability to use symbols and codes to locate objects on a map, comprehension of pictured mechanical principles, and the ability to read, apply rules and make decisions based upon written information.
