About the role
- Provides leadership and expertise of the Capital Construction safety program
- Delivers daily work direction to junior team members or direct reports
- Contributes to planning, work scheduling and decision-making regarding work methods
- Collaborates with all organizational levels and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Coordinates contractor safety and management resources to ensure compliance with regulations
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets safety regulations to initiate compliance strategies
- Assists in developing programs, policies, and procedures for personnel safety
- Analyzes contractor safety performance indicators to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Leads the implementation and auditing of safety programs
Requirements
- Associate's Degree or higher in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Safety or a related field preferred
- In lieu of formal degree, recognized subject-matter expert in electric or gas utility construction with 10 years practical field experience and at least two years as a Lead
- Valid Driver's License
- At least 10 years of experience providing safety services or responsibilities for large construction projects
- Utility experience desired
- Experience in regulatory compliance, best practice, and contractor oversight desired
- Uses appropriate interpersonal skills and communication methods to build constructive relationships with contractors, business units, and stakeholders to meet shared goals and objectives
