About the role
- Wind Engineer focusing on technical support and problem solving for long term ownership of wind turbine generator equipment
- Focus on wind turbine systems, blade engineering inspection and repair support, and related WTG subsystems
- Support existing blade assets in the WEC Wind Fleet, ensure operational success and needed repair at projects
- Provide subject matter expertise and technical review for new plants
- Utilize performance monitoring tools and independently perform advanced calculations, tests and engineering analysis
- Participate in long-term budget process for capital projects, prepare RFPs, coordinate evaluation, perform contract administration and construction inspections
- Lead Root Cause Analysis, apply codes and standards, update drawings and documentation, lead project teams on moderately complex assignments
- Travel required for site visits to perform inspections and QA/QC across WEC territory
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Preferred: Wind power generation plant experience, including blades, drive train, and other WTG systems
- Engineering experience designing, operating, maintaining, testing, commissioning, and/or troubleshooting WTG subsystems, rotating machinery, tribology, lubrication
- WTG Blade Repairs and Manufacturing processes
- Experience specifying and interpreting aerial drone imagery
- Experience with padmount step up transformers and switchgear
- Experience reviewing and using site drawings: single line diagrams, schematics, collector systems, access road layouts, structural steel, foundations, grading plans
- Project management and/or lead engineering experience
- Performance analytics and data visualization experience using MS Power BI, Excel, or similar
- Experience working across teams in setting standards for operation, maintenance, design, or other processes
