About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and grow a residential mortgage portfolio and increase market share through sales and service to external mortgage brokers
  • Prospect for new broker relationships and foster existing relationships within an assigned geographical territory
  • Build referral sources through relationships with brokerages, broker franchises, and sub-brokers
  • Raise the profile of Tru Cooperative Bank and regional brands through external activities, trade shows, and related events
  • Communicate product, process, and expectations to mortgage brokers
  • Collaborate with mortgage underwriters, credit services, branches, and other teams
  • Monitor brokerage funding volumes and efficiencies
  • Recommend signing or removal of broker relationships as warranted
  • Analyze business information, make decisions, and build business plans
  • Prepare weekly sales logs and appointment schedules with narratives about broker interactions, training sessions, and site visits
  • Gather and communicate competitive intelligence to support product pricing
  • Recommend modifications to products, policies, and industry regulations
  • Present or participate in training sessions, industry trade shows, and special events
  • Report to the Director, Mortgage Business Development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3–4+ years of relevant industry experience required
  • Mortgage broker relationship management or mortgage specialist management experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • Self-directed and highly organized
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and banking software programs
  • Proven business development, relationship-building, and sales skills
  • Agile time management skills with ability to multitask
  • Ability to adhere to policies and procedures and demonstrate risk ownership
  • Willingness and ability to undertake overnight travel multiple times per month
  • Ability to complete employment verification, credit check, and criminal record check if considered
