About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support surgical oncology patients through coordination of care, patient education, and multidisciplinary communication
Coordinate surgery scheduling and clinical workflows
Educate patients about what to expect before and after procedures
Follow up with patients requiring additional support
Respond to patient questions in the InBasket
Prepare charts for future appointments
Coordinate care tasks and maintain communication with the surgical team
Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
Complete health histories and physical examinations and convey findings to physicians
Coordinate patient care and order diagnostic tests
Convey diagnostic findings to physicians
Attend inpatient rounds
Coordinate patient appointments and assist with outside referrals
Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and other direct patient care processes
Perform nursing administrative duties related to environmental safety, infection control, and quality assurance
Facilitate communication and coordination of care among patients, families, and health team members
Explain routines and procedures to patients and coordinate patient care information with appropriate sources

Requirements

What you’ll need

Associate Degree In Nursing Or Diploma In Registered Nursing
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Two years of nursing experience
Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act
Basic Life Support Certification or obtains certification within one month of employment
Online BLS certifications without a skills assessment component are not sufficient
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily
Ability to complete required pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and applicable drug, employment, education or licensure/certification verification, physical examination, vaccinations and/or governmental registry checks
