About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide clerical and administrative support, including answering phones, setting schedules and meetings, typing documents, filing, and backup support
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and keep rooms neat and clean
- Clean and sterilize equipment, instruments, and rooms
- Dispose of contaminated supplies appropriately
- Interview patients by phone or in person to obtain medical information or schedule activities
- Create, update, and coordinate medical records and files
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and established instructions to patients
- Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens; log and prepare specimens for testing
- Measure patient vital signs, weight, and height
- Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for physicians
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Travel locally to satellite offices, including the new Sunset Hills location
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification, or combination of education and/or experience
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire
- Online BLS certifications without a skills assessment component are insufficient
- No specific work experience required
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is listed among acceptable credentials
- Ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily
- Must complete applicable pre-employment screening, which may include criminal background check, drug screen, employment and education or licensure/certification verification, physical examination, vaccinations, and governmental registry checks
- Preferred: Some college or medical assistant school training
- Preferred skills include file maintenance, healthcare environments, interpersonal communication, medical terminology, Microsoft Office, office administration, office procedures, oral communications, and patient interactions
