About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the development and evolution of the benefits strategy, philosophy, and governance framework
- Advise executive leadership on market trends, innovations, best practices, and cost management
- Design, implement, and oversee medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, voluntary benefits, and leave programs
- Conduct benchmarking and market analysis to ensure competitive programs
- Lead benefits projects from concept through implementation with university stakeholders and benefits and Workday teams
- Manage benefits budgets, forecasts, and long-range cost projections
- Analyze claims experience, utilization trends, and cost drivers
- Develop dashboards and KPIs providing actionable insights
- Lead benefits communication and education strategies
- Mentor and develop a team of 15 benefits professionals
- Ensure the employee benefits solutions center delivers responsive, service-oriented support
- Handle escalated benefits inquiries and employee issues
- Lead vendor evaluation and selection and hold vendors accountable for performance and service levels
- Manage vendor payments and ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other applicable laws
- Support the Retirement Plans Committee and Benefits Plans Appeal Committee
- Serve as Secretary for the Compensation and Benefits Committee
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field
- 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
- Experience leading the development of a complex, integrated, and strategic benefits program in a healthcare or corporate environment
- Preferred: master's degree
- Preferred: Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS)
- Analytical thinking and benefits administration
