Insurance Billing/Collection Assistant II – Neurology
WashU ITInsurance Billing/Collection Assistant responsible for follow-up on insurance billing and collection activities in Neurology. Verifying accuracy, contacting insurance companies, and expediting payments for physician services.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Performs insurance follow-up billing and collection duties on various financial classifications to ensure timely and accurate payment of physician charges
- Reviews patient accounts to verify accuracy of information including insurance, eligibility, invoice resolution, correspondence, remittances, and requests for additional information
- Utilizes Epic, system tools, and payer websites for claim submission, claim status, attachments, eligibility, and authorization/referral inquiry
- Consistently meets Quality Assurance (QA) and meaningful efficiency standards of working invoices/accounts each day and follows best practices for one-touch resolution as established within the department
- Interacts with management and staff members to discuss issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
- 2 years of experience in bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting
- Skills: Claims Resolution, Collections Strategies, Epic EHR, Health Insurance Billing, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Terminology, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Office Equipment, Telephone Communications
