About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle day-to-day operations providing assistance to staff working with insurance matters
- Supervise, advise, and oversee posting, collections, and reimbursement functions
- Counsel patients and families on financial assistance options
- Communicate policies and educate staff on billing issues
- Counsel patients on financial and account-management issues
- Advise department managers on collection issues
- Handle missing charge-ticket lists and generate replacement tickets when needed
- Work with pharmacy on appropriate drug pricing
- Monitor and update monthly department collection totals
- Advise affected areas on diagnoses, prices, and charges for special batches
- Participate in selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating employees
- Inform employees of departmental changes
- Provide coverage during illness and vacations; back up the HMO/PPO Representative
- Assist the IBC team with special projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education
- 5 years of relevant experience
