About the role

  • Perform advanced billing and collection activities
  • May act as a Lead IBC Assistant
  • Make collection calls, verifying accuracy and completeness of claims
  • Contact insurance companies and collection agencies to expedite payments
  • Handle discounts, adjustments and charge corrections
  • Perform collection follow-up on specific financial classifications like commercial insurance and self-pay
  • Respond to questions and requests from insurance companies
  • Support customer service unit in answering billing and collection questions
  • Act as back-up support for Accounts Receivable staff during peak times

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
  • Billing or insurance experience (3 years)
  • No specific certification is required
  • Post-secondary education (2 years) preferred
  • Skills: Collections Strategies, Communication, Computer Literacy, Confidential Data Handling, Medical Terminology, Office Equipment, Telephone System
  • Driver's license not required.
