About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support general pediatric physicians in providing clinical care in a dynamic outpatient setting
  • Triage care and manage tasks for general pediatric patients, including paperwork, orders, and scheduling
  • Administer vaccines and obtain respiratory swabs and catheterized urine samples
  • Provide specialized patient care and education for patients receiving treatments and examinations
  • Assess patients and families across biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental dimensions
  • Collect and analyze medical-record data to coordinate patient care
  • Administer medication, perform procedures, and monitor patient status
  • Counsel and educate patients and families regarding disease processes and symptom management
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records
  • Consult with healthcare team members and adjust nursing care processes to optimize outcomes
  • Manage supplies and equipment cost-effectively
  • Assist healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, prescription refills, and direct-care processes
  • Participate in quality-improvement activities
  • Contribute professionally through presentations, preceptorships or mentorships, committees, community service, publications, or professional-organization leadership
  • Work primarily at the Academic Pediatric clinic at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, with secondary coverage at Washington University Specialty Care – North County and potential coverage at other clinics

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate Degree In Nursing or Diploma In Registered Nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with Compact Act
  • Basic Life Support certification with a skills assessment component; online BLS certifications without a skills assessment are insufficient
  • Completion of National Specialty Certification relevant to the area where working, if applicable
  • Advanced clinical skills, such as PALS, ACLS, IV Certification, or Bone Marrow Biopsy
  • 2 years of experience in a clinical specialty
  • Preferred: 3 years of nursing experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily
  • Must complete required pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and applicable drug, employment, education/licensure/certification, physical examination, vaccination, or governmental registry checks
