About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain payroll tax and garnishment data within Workday Payroll
  • Review, validate, and submit payroll tax data for tax returns and ADP filings
  • Calculate and process garnishments, tax corrections, and statutory deductions
  • Investigate and resolve tax and garnishment discrepancies
  • Perform payroll tax and garnishment reconciliations, including general ledger and balance sheet analysis
  • Partner with Payroll, Payroll Settlement, and Accounting teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Respond to inquiries from employees, government agencies, and stakeholders
  • Manage tax and garnishment cases through the case management system
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
  • Analyze and document issues to identify systemic problems
  • Participate in testing and validation of payroll system enhancements and process changes
  • Review and update training materials, policies, and procedures
  • Support special projects and process improvement initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in multi-state payroll, payroll tax, and garnishment administration
  • Experience with Workday Payroll, Workday HCM, or comparable SaaS-based payroll platform
  • Experience supporting payroll operations in a large, complex, multi-business-unit organization is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll compliance regulations
  • Experience with Workday integrations and Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) mass data uploads preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and reconciliation skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
  • Process management, improvement, and re-engineering skills
  • Ability to manage high-volume activities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent planning, time management, prioritization, and follow-up skills

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), or comparable certification preferred
