About the role
- Lead the strategic direction and execution of all state and local tax matters
- Oversee audit controversy, tax planning, technical analysis, and risk management across multiple jurisdictions
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and operational teams to align tax strategies with corporate objectives
- Represent the company in industry forums and regulatory discussions
- Lead all aspects of multi-state income and indirect tax audits
- Partner with planning, compliance, and reporting teams to evaluate and document tax positions
- Communicate senior management strategic visions to staff
- Maintain a high-performance culture
Requirements
- 12+ years of progressive experience in state and local tax, including audit controversy and technical planning
- Background in both income and indirect tax
- CPA or LLM required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, MST) preferred
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP), tax software (OneSource), and research tools (BNA, CCH)
