Handle union-related claims and grievances and oversee production and personnel labor issues for U.S. and international television productions
Ensure compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements for Warner Bros. Television and affiliated companies
Investigate and resolve union claims and grievances and negotiate settlements with major guilds (WGA, DGA, SAG, IATSE, Basic Crafts)
Conduct union audits, prepare for arbitrations, draft legal briefs, and perform witness preparation and cross-examination strategy
Work with outside counsel as needed
Perform labor market research and prepare contract negotiation materials including proposals, costing analysis, legal memos, and impact reports
Manage union notice and waiver request processes and deliver required notices or seek waivers
Participate in industry-wide negotiations through the AMPTP and CMPA and draft/track proposals
Deliver internal collective agreement training to client groups and advise internal studio stakeholders and production teams
Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) and valid California Bar license are preferred
Minimum 6-7 years of experience in television at a studio, production company, entertainment guild, or law firm
1–3 years in a legal, industrial, or labor relations environment
Strong knowledge of labor law, union contracts, and collective bargaining agreements
Ability to conduct legal research and analyze personal service agreements
Demonstrated experience investigating and resolving union claims and grievances, including negotiating settlements with WGA, DGA, SAG, IATSE, and Basic Crafts
Legal expertise in union audits, arbitration preparation, and drafting legal briefs, including witness prep and cross-examination strategies
Proficient in labor market research, proposal and costing analysis, drafting legal memos, and summarizing and drafting impact reports
In-depth understanding of the union notice and waiver request process
Active participation in industry-wide negotiations and AMPTP committees
Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
