About the role

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high performing environment
  • Stay hands on with day to day execution and delivery while supporting engineers through coaching and feedback
  • Facilitate team ceremonies including standups, planning, and retrospectives
  • Partner with product, design, data, and other engineering teams on discovery, planning, and delivery
  • Partner with peers and senior leaders on broader technical strategy, alignment, and prioritization
  • Own technical decision making for the team, including build vs buy evaluations and vendor selection
  • Work directly with external vendors and third party partners on technical evaluation, integration planning, delivery, and ongoing support
  • Contribute to system design, architecture discussions, and technical planning
  • Review code and designs and champion best practices across the team
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs, and proactively work to unblock progress
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and team growth efforts
  • Contribute technically when needed through code reviews, implementation guidance, or hands on development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Direct experience managing and growing engineering team members. 2+ years experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with external vendors and third party partners in a production environment
  • Experience evaluating third party solutions and leading build vs buy technical decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with non technical stakeholders
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and growing engineering teams
  • Experience building, testing, and maintaining consumer facing applications
  • Demonstrated success delivering high quality software in an iterative and sustainable way
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams
  • Strong understanding of modern web development across client and server technologies
  • Familiarity with AWS services, CI/CD tooling, and infrastructure best practices
