About the role
- Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high performing environment
- Stay hands on with day to day execution and delivery while supporting engineers through coaching and feedback
- Facilitate team ceremonies including standups, planning, and retrospectives
- Partner with product, design, data, and other engineering teams on discovery, planning, and delivery
- Partner with peers and senior leaders on broader technical strategy, alignment, and prioritization
- Own technical decision making for the team, including build vs buy evaluations and vendor selection
- Work directly with external vendors and third party partners on technical evaluation, integration planning, delivery, and ongoing support
- Contribute to system design, architecture discussions, and technical planning
- Review code and designs and champion best practices across the team
- Identify risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs, and proactively work to unblock progress
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and team growth efforts
- Contribute technically when needed through code reviews, implementation guidance, or hands on development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Direct experience managing and growing engineering team members. 2+ years experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience working directly with external vendors and third party partners in a production environment
- Experience evaluating third party solutions and leading build vs buy technical decisions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with non technical stakeholders
- Experience hiring, onboarding, and growing engineering teams
- Experience building, testing, and maintaining consumer facing applications
- Demonstrated success delivering high quality software in an iterative and sustainable way
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams
- Strong understanding of modern web development across client and server technologies
- Familiarity with AWS services, CI/CD tooling, and infrastructure best practices
