About the role
- The Video Editorial Senior Producer focuses on shooting, craft editing, and the creation of daily or long-form content for next-generation products with an eye towards identifying direct-to-consumer, paid experiences.\n
- The position will create content for publication across all CNN platforms.\n
- Assignments include video creation for day of or breaking news, packages, live videos and various forms of content for special programming, as well as traditional news elements.\n
- The Senior Producer incorporates a visually compelling approach to editing and producing while adhering to defined editorial and journalistic standards.\n
- The position requires proficiency in shooting and editing skills.\n
- Leads creative development and editorial execution of ambitious video projects across platforms (web, social, mobile, linear, streaming)\n
- Provides editorial and creative oversight of scripts, visuals, pacing, and tone to ensure content is distinctive, accurate, and impactful.\n
- Develop and lead longform projects, serialized formats, or high-priority video initiatives across platforms.\n
- Translates editorial goals and audience insights into compelling video treatments that meet brand and journalistic standards\n
- Accountable for the life of assigned and developed/originated content from release through ongoing refreshes and updates.\n
- Oversees and owns multi-part projects, verticals, or story treatments simultaneously, with the ability to flex between complex more longform content and more quick-turn shortform.\n
- Creates and monitors production schedules and budgets to ensure timely, current, and cost-effective content.\n
- Leads cross-functional collaboration with design, tech, audience development, and product to deliver content aligned with audience strategy.\n
- Enforces quality control standards for storytelling, brand voice, and production consistency.\n
- May supervise team of producers, editors, and associated creative roles, fostering growth and editorial rigor.\n
- Establish and optimize post-production workflows to ensure quality, efficiency, and platform relevance\n
- Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial leads, talent partners, and distribution teams to align goals\n
- Participate and proactively ideate in experimentation of format, tone, and visual treatment to evolve storytelling craft.\n
- Review and approve final edits and scripts, make final editorial calls for assigned projects.\n

- Assignments will be completed under production deadlines, requiring flexibility with schedule/working hours.
Requirements
- Typically 8+ or more years of experience of progressively complex related experience in new or sports environment\n
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, technical production, English, political science, history or relevant professional work experience.\n
- Proven track record of developing and executing compelling editorial video formats\n
- Experience managing production teams or projects with measurable audience success\n
- Visionary editorial judgment, defines formats and creative strategies, not just story treatments.\n
- Proven editorial judgement, leadership and mentoring along with audience sensibility\n
- Expert-level post-production skills, can guide teams and uphold high visual standards\n
- Data and audience informed mindset that still protects editorial standards and creative integrity\n
- Strong collaborator and cross-functional partner\n
- Can work with A-level talent and manage complex Showrunner and Talent stakeholders\n
- Ability to handle and complete projects across platforms with storytelling and visual innovation\n
- Demonstrated technical and creative expertise in editing and producing, including but not limited to the Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on After Effects and visual effects plug-ins such as Sapphire, Boris, Red Giant, and others.\n
- Must have thorough understanding of video production workflow, and proficiency in file-based production environments.\n
- Proven editorial judgment and knowledge of editorial functions such as story pitching, field production, shot selection, scripting, as well as managing and adapting to the continually developing technologies driving the industry.\n
- Expected to continue skill development on existing production platforms and training in the proficient use of emerging technology.\n
- Must be agile and adaptable in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
