About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and maintain AI platforms supporting Walmart’s data science community
Build scalable, distributed systems using modern frameworks and cloud-native architectures
Design, develop, and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices
Ensure reliability, performance, scalability, security, and platform stability
Conduct root cause analysis and resolve business-critical issues
Collaborate with global engineering and cross-functional product, UX, and DevOps teams
Provide production support, including troubleshooting, triaging, and resolving live issues
Implement DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, observability, monitoring, and alerting
Own deliverables end to end from development through QA and production deployment
Guide junior team members and help achieve team objectives
Support customers through different forums and promote good practices
Experiment with new ideas and deliver product-focused platform capabilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with 9+ years of experience
Minimum qualification alternative: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Minimum qualification alternative: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Strong proficiency in Spring Boot, including REST APIs, dependency injection, and configuration management
Expertise in Java, including JVM internals, concurrency, and multithreading
Basic programming skills in Python
Experience with Spring Data JPA/Hibernate, ORM optimization, and database transaction management
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes deployment techniques
Experience with Azure and/or GCP
Intermediate understanding of machine learning and Generative AI
Exposure to Apache Spark and Ray
Master’s degree and 2 years’ experience is preferred
Ability to work from the Bangalore/Chennai office for daily work
