About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install HVAC systems, building equipment, ductwork, control components, building automation systems, and low-ambient HVAC applications
  • Configure and calibrate direct digital controls and building automation systems
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control-related HVAC and facility-system issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and routine operational checks
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs under manager or training technician supervision
  • Follow OSHA standards, safety protocols, PPE requirements, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain documentation for maintenance, inspections, parts usage, work orders, expenses, and warranty claims
  • Receive instructions from managers and training technicians and support training plans and operational procedures
  • Communicate with facility operators, partners, customers, and business teams about service needs and corrective actions
  • Participate in on-call rotations approximately every 4–6 weeks
  • Manage service calls, schedules, workloads, parts, refrigerant levels, inventory, vendors, and digital work systems
  • Drive and maintain company vehicles and arrange required vehicle maintenance
  • Work or train at multiple facilities or distant locations within an assigned region
  • Lead and participate in teams, coordinate assignments, provide advice and feedback, and support quality and timelines
  • Develop and implement processes and practices, monitor results, and identify improvements
  • Promote company policies, ethics, integrity, compliance, and Walmart values

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Vocational or technical HVAC certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC and building controls
  • Alternatively, 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, electrical, plumbing, material handling equipment, or related trades
  • Alternatively, 2 years’ store experience
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report
  • Valid EPA Section 608 Certification for handling and servicing refrigerants
  • Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last five years
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations within the last three years
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
  • No serious traffic violations under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the last three years
  • Ability to install and service commercial HVAC systems, building equipment, ductwork, controls, and low-ambient HVAC applications
  • Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, company safety protocols, and applicable regulations
  • Ability to use digital tools, scheduling platforms, and documentation systems
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain company vehicles
  • Preferred: completion of a 2-year vocational or technical HVAC program
  • Preferred: experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
