About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise associates by assigning duties, communicating goals, providing feedback, and monitoring performance
- Teach and support company policies and procedures and ensure compliance
- Participate in hiring, promotion, coaching, teaching, job shadowing, technician certification, and associate evaluation
- Maintain quality and safety standards, equipment, tools, supplies, and supporting documentation
- Ensure associates are trained on Logistics and company policies and procedures
- Assign and support work activities to comply with OSHA, Hazardous Waste, NFPA, Storm Water, and DOT requirements
- Manage assigned areas using horticulture methods and solutions
- Maintain garden beds, containers, landscape plants, and facility grounds
- Complete work orders and maintain records, logs, and documentation using phones, tablets, and laptops
- Perform landscaping, planting, pruning, weed management, and pest and disease control
- Operate heavy machinery and powered equipment
- Provide customer service to facility users and resolve problems and complaints
- Perform seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow and ice management
- Evaluate replacement needs and implement facility sustainability upgrades
- Explore improvements to lower operating costs and standardize equipment
- Source tools and equipment and approve purchases of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies
- Prepare and execute budgets and develop project cost estimates
- Maintain vehicles, coordinate required maintenance, and submit maintenance invoices
- Safely operate, inspect, and maneuver motor vehicles and powered equipment
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation safety inspections and address hazards or malfunctions
- Lead and participate in teams, coordinate work assignments, and support timelines and work quality
- Develop and implement processes and practices by collaborating with managers, coworkers, customers, and business partners
- Promote company policies, ethics, integrity, and compliance
- Mentor and develop associates and support continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification during pre-hire contingency
- Ability to maintain a minimum 90-day Medical Examiner’s Certification card
- Valid state-issued driver’s license
- Ability to pass a motor vehicle report
- No DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless-driving convictions involving alcohol or drugs within the last three years
- No more than two moving violations in the last three years when driving a commercial motor vehicle
- No serious traffic violations under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the last three years when operating a commercial motor vehicle
- No preventable accidents under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the last three years when operating a commercial motor vehicle
- Ability to read and speak English
- Two years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry
- Preferred: Associate’s degree in horticulture or related area
- Preferred: Certified nursery and/or landscape professional
- Preferred: Experience as a landscaping/gardening crew leader or supervisor
- Preferred: Intermediate functionality in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Preferred: State/local licensing where required
