About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop highly scalable native Android mobile apps serving millions of drivers per day
Solve complex software engineering problems using state-of-the-art technology
Lead high-visibility projects across the organization
Lead the work of small groups of six to ten engineers across geographies
Take the lead on problems related to scale and monetization
Design and build large-scale distributed systems and process large amounts of data
Provide guidance to junior engineers and offshore associates
Support the business with technical feasibility, implementation strategies, solution designs, and system guidance
Manage complex projects by translating requirements into technical solutions, writing code, unit testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring on-time delivery
Troubleshoot business and production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive resolution action plans
Participate in project discovery and high-level design with product management, project management, business, and user experience teams
Provide expert advice and guidance on information, best practices, and action plans
Build stakeholder relationships, identify business needs, implement business solutions, and monitor results
Apply company policies, values, ethics, and standards to business processes

Requirements

What you’ll need

6+ years of experience in native Android app development
1+ years of experience leading design and architecture for native mobile apps
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area; alternatively, 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Experience with Kotlin and Java
Experience with MVP, MVVM, and reactive programming
Understanding of unit testing frameworks
Demonstrated high-level systems design skills
Experience designing, building, and maintaining native mobile apps with a large customer base
Extensive knowledge of open-source libraries and design patterns
Familiarity with CI/CD and unit testing
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to broad audiences
