About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and grow multiple engineering teams delivering mission-critical pharmacy and health platform capabilities
  • Set technical direction, own the engineering roadmap, and drive end-to-end program delivery
  • Partner with product management, clinical operations, UX, data science, and SRE teams
  • Own architectural direction, including system design, technology choices, scalability, and long-term technical strategy
  • Establish engineering excellence standards for code quality, CI/CD, observability, incident response, security, and technical debt
  • Ensure platforms comply with HIPAA/HITECH, PHI/ePHI governance, and Walmart security and privacy standards
  • Hire talent, define career growth paths, conduct performance reviews, and build an inclusive engineering organization
  • Drive cross-team alignment on shared platforms, APIs, and engineering standards
  • Represent the Health & Wellness engineering organization in architecture forums, leadership reviews, and planning
  • Manage program-level delivery, milestones, dependencies, risks, status communication, and quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BE/B Tech/ME/M Tech in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Bachelor's degree in a specified technical field and 5 years of software engineering experience, or 7 years of software engineering experience
  • 2 years' supervisory experience
  • 10+ years of overall software engineering experience
  • Strong foundation in Java backend and/or full-stack development with Java and React
  • 3+ years in an engineering management role
  • Experience managing teams of 8 or more engineers, including managers or tech leads
  • Proven delivery of large-scale, production-grade platforms
  • Ability to engage in architecture and design reviews, set technical direction, and drive engineering OKRs
  • Experience in hiring, onboarding, performance management, career growth planning, and organizational development
  • Experience owning end-to-end delivery across multiple workstreams and managing dependencies, risks, and milestones
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA/HITECH, PHI/ePHI data governance, and healthcare/pharmacy software complexities
  • Working knowledge of GCP, Azure, or AWS; Kubernetes; CI/CD; microservices; and observability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Master's degree is preferred, not required
